Are life jackets included in the rental?

Yes, we supply the life jackets at no extra costs. It is helpful if you advise what size you will need.

How far in advance do we need to book?

Weekends tend to book up faster, so the sooner you book, the more likely you’ll get the spot you want. That being said, there are days where you can do same day booking. We do our best to accommodate.

Do you offer kayak lessons?

No, we do not have the courses for training, however, we will show you the basics of what is required when kayaking for the first time.

Do you offer guided tours?

We do not offer guided tours.

How long does it take to float down the river in the kayak?

Depending on river flow, it usually can take anywhere between 2-3 hours on a kayak, and 4-5 hours on a floating island.

Is the river safe to kayak on?

We monitor the river flow daily, in the morning and in the afternoon. We keep an eye to make sure the river is flowing between 100-400 cubic meters per second as recommended by the fire department. We will postpone/reschedule if the river is flowing too fast or if the wind conditions are too extreme. Safety comes first, and we need to ensure you guys feel safe and comfortable on the river.

Is there a fee for a last minute cancellation?

We do not charge for any cancellations. We understand that life happens, and things can change. The more notice you can give us, the better. If the river is flowing too fast, we may need to cancel your booking and we apologize for that.

What type of payment do you accept?

We accept e-transfer to mhoutdoorxcape@gmail.com or cash at this time.

How far in advance do we have to pay for our booking?

You only have to pay the day of your booking before you get out on the river, just in the event you need to cancel your booking.

Do you pick up and drop off the kayaks?

We charge $10 for drop off and $10 for pick-up of the kayaks. You are more than welcome to pick up the kayaks from our place.

How does pick up and drop off work?

We will drop off at the Redcliff Boat Launch located in the River Valley Park (West on Broadway, South on Main St, West on 9 Ave Sw and continue to the parking lot). Once you get to Finlay Bridge, you can contact us and we will be waiting in Strathcona Boat Launch for you.

Can you transport us back to our vehicles?

Unfortunately no, we cannot transport people. You will need to have your own ride. An option is getting a cab to one of the locations, either drop off or pick up, or finding a ride from a friend or family member.

How many kayaks do you have?

At this time, we have 3 tandem kayaks (2 person kayaks) and 5 single kayaks (1 sit on, and 4 sit in)

Do you deliver to Elkwater?

At this time, we can only deliver to Elkwater if you are renting out 5-8 kayaks but we do have to charge extra for delivery.

Is there somewhere we can store our belongings on the kayak?

There are holders for your belongings, but we recommend putting anything valuable in a Ziploc or waterproof bag so nothing gets water damage.

How many people does the floating island hold?

Currently we have two 4-person floating islands.

Do you deliver the Stand-Up Paddle boards?

No, we believe they are easy to transport and saves you the cost on delivery! In the event you are renting a paddle board with a kayak, then we would bring it with the delivey of that kayak.
